Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy includes application of direct, alternating or pulsed currents. Procedures with application of different currents (faradic, Kotz, interdynamic, diadynamic, high voltage, galvanic, TENS, microcurrents) are performed according to indications. Ultrasounds are connected with sound waves but with higher frequency. Application of two types of procedures simultaneously on the same tissues is called combined treatment.
Ultrasounds
Ultrasounds are connected with sound wave but of higher frequency. They are formed through mechanical vibration of elastic center molecules. 1 to 3 MHz frequencies are used in the therapy. Ultrasounds induce termic, mechanic (micromassage) and biochemical effect in tissues. Ultrasounds have beneficial influence on fractures and wounds healing, joint tissue regeneration, scar tissues, blood flow. Methods of application includes application of ultrasound head on the area of treated tissues with coupling agent.
Combined therapy – ultradounds + electrotherapy
Application of two types of therapy simultaneously on the same tissues is called combined therapy. The most common form of combined therapy is combination of ultrasounds and a form of electrotherapy. The reason for combined therapy application is a fact that within 1 procedure therapeutic effect of both methods is obtained simultaneously.
